Not a bad attempt, but suffers from some serious flaws.
Update 04/06/19: After a 5 mile run today I have chosen to return these. I have used them several times over the past week. When they work they are nice, they work fine if I use them at work or around the house, but if I'm running or hiking they de-sync from each other and stutter CONSTANTLY. They are completely unusable and infuriating. They have been updated by Samsung, but still the connection problems persist. Hopefully Samsung can fix these problems in the future, but until then I'm not happy about paying top shelf prices for a beta test. I'm going back to my $20 Chinese earbuds that actually WORK.
I received my Galaxy Buds last Friday the 29th. I was excited to receive them as I use earbuds often when working out or just walking around and the $20 set of Chinese earbuds I had been using worked reasonably well but I wanted to splurge a little on some really nice truly wireless earbuds.
Initial thoughts:
Aesthetically they are very nice, they don't hang out of your ears, really it just looks like you are wearing earplugs or something. They fit comfortably in the ears, they come with a variety of rubber parts of various sizes so you can really dial in the fit. Most importantly they sort of "lock in" to your ears. That is a feature that I cannot live without. There's nothing I hate more than earbuds falling out when you are just getting into a run.
I used them around the house over the weekend. Buds in, phone sitting on my desk or sometimes in my pocket and they worked fine. The sound is decent. I'm no audiophile but I've used good earbuds and bad ones and these definitely fall into the good category. The app is great, the charging case is convenient and easy to use, and the ambient sound "enhancement" works surprisingly well.
Now for the downside:
I took the Buds out for a little hike today, nothing serious. Phone in my pocket. At first they worked fine, but as the hike went on they started cutting out intermittently. Sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes they were out of sync with each other. I tried disconnecting them, turning bluetooth on and off, even messing with audio settings. I tried holding the phone, putting it in a different pocket, no matter what I tried it would only help the problem for a few seconds at most. By the time I was nearing the end of the trail the earbuds were almost unusable cutting out and stuttering constantly.
I had a similar problem with a pair of the Chinese bluetooth earbuds and I had to return them for a replacement, but now the current pair I have work flawlessly. I'll try the Galaxy Buds again and update my review, but if this continues and the connectivity is really worse than a $20 pair of earbuds I can't recommend these to anyone.
