I thought that buying this costume would make other materials scientists and engineers take me more seriously when I talk about my graduate research, but when I wore it I got remarks like "Hey chica, you just quenched my austenite into the hardest martensite", "Hey baby, let's make a stress-strain curve together", "You don't need a Rockwell test to characterize my hardness and penetration depth" and my favorite: "Hey sexy, how'd you like to help me test the fatigue life of my mattress springs?" Must be because I wore it with my steel toed boots instead of the shoes in the picture.
