READ THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS! They primarily note the same issue. I purchased the product less than a year ago, and it suddenly stopped working with both of my laptops. Although it sounds like it is still trying to read the disc, both my work laptop and my home laptop do not recognize that the disc drive is plugged into the USB ports. Prior to this issue, it should be noted that the product worked great. I sent an email to the company since I was within the one-year replacement/exchange period. What completely rubbed me the wrong way was the company's business practices. I was told to pay to ship my product out and that if it could not be repaired it would be replaced. However, if I was to leave a positive review for the defective product, they "would like to give [me] a new replacement without any charge and [I] could skip returning process." Now I know how they have so many positive reviews offsetting the negative ones. It is simple quid pro quo, and a terribly unfortunate business practice in my opinion. Thank you for your unethical offer, but I prefer not be bribed with another free inferior product. I will go ahead and buy a different external disc drive from a company that has some comprehension of how to fairly operate in the business world.
