Boring, poor writing and dislikeable characters
As my last review was a 2 star review, and explained why I didn't like it much, and was rejected for some reason. I'm lowering my rating to 1 star. However, that is not the only reason I'm lowering it to 1 star. One thing this show has got me interested in, is the actual lore from Tolkien this is SUPPOSED to be based on.
After spending some time researching the actual lore, I'm completely disappointed that we could have had a GREAT show, and instead got a Fan Fiction Galadriel instead of the elegant mystical leader she is supposed to be. By the way, where is her beloved Husband Celeborn? And apparently she never set foot in Numenor in the lore.
Why is Sauron not a prisoner in Numenor, and poisoning the mind of the king in Numenor, to worship Morgoth? Why isn't Isildor, his brother, and father not already in Middle Earth, fighting all the battles with the Orcs?
Why are the Hobbits/Harfoots such a ruthless bunch of idiots? Can we please get them killed off by wolves or orcs? These are a despicable bunch or characters!
Why are Orcs basically Vampires now?
I do like the Dwarves, but the storyline about Mithril is made up also, and not following the lore.
Basically this show feels like a Fan Fiction show, with made up characters, miss-characterization of established characters, but with GREAT visuals. A show that drags, with no apparent plot line, to subvert the actual plot lines from the lore. Yep, a basic 1 star show. It might be able to be saved, if the writers are fired, show runners fired, and hiring writers that can steer it back to the original lore from Tolkien. Then we might be able to tell people in the future, skip season 1, and start with season 2, and it will make sense. However, I doubt Amazon will pull that card, and fix this horrible slow dribble of a show.
