Buyer Beware
Of all the items I have ordered over the years from Amazon, this is by far the worst product I had purchased. Now let’s start from the beginning. I had purchased the Pioneer Minisplit Heatpump 24000 BTU -208/230. The unit was delivered Jun 8th and was professionally installed on June 22nd. The unit operated as expected when installed (heating, Colling, fan, all worked). The unit was turned off on June 30th until July 6th as the family went on vacation. Upon our return it was turned back on and still appeared to operate correctly until everything changed on July 9th when the unit displayed an E1 error code. After looking this code up and consulting with HVAC export, the E1 code is an “indoor/outdoor units communication error.” Outdoor unit fan nor compressor will turn on when in cooling or head mode. After inspection I had confirmed that all wires are properly connected but the voltage between L2 and S of the outdoor unit is staying positive and not alternating as it should per manufacture, and this is likely due to a PCB malfunction. On July 11th I had explained this to the Pioneer PD-HVAC technical support team on a phone call and followed up with an email on July 12th, and also noted that the unit was powered off and wires removed and reattached to ensure solid connection but did not solve this issue and same code was displayed. On July 11th the Pioneer Support Team confirmed that was the issue and followed up on my July 12th email stating that “I apologize to hear about the troubles you are having with your new unit. If your measurement at those terminals is staying at a fixed value, this indicates a malfunction of the indoor circuit board. I want you to know we will send you this part right away. Please call warranty and parts department, I will forward this email to them as well so they can get to work on getting you this part.” Based on the email info above, I called back again on July 12th and was redirected to the technical support team again. The Technical team forwarded me to the Parts department, went on hold for over an hour and a secretary from the front desk eventually answered. The front desk stated that there was no one to take my call at this time in Parts. Now let’s jump to Jully 22nd when a finial sent another email after three calls, one email, and two weeks has elapsed. July 23rd I receded an email asking for shipping details, so even though this was previously provided, they were provided again the same day, along with Unit model and S/N numbers for both the outdoor and indoor units to make sure they had everything needed. Follow-ups were made to this email on July 28thm July 30th, August 4th, August 5th, August 7th, August 9th, and August 11th via email and countless phone calls with no response or kept getting the runaround. After that last email, I called twice again until today August 30th where I am posting this warning to all customers, and this same note to both Amazon and Pioneer. Do not buy this unit, stay away! It may be a good unit “IF” it would work but I have yet to have experience with a working unit. Also this is the worst customer service I had ever experienced. Now summer is over and we still have no AC and no heat pump for the Fall after spending $1,500 on the unit, having it installed, and all the time wasted on calling and writing emails and posts such as this one. To recap, delivered on Jun 8th, professionally installed on June 22nd, and still not working on August 30, 2019! Do not buy any Pioneer unit, stay away! Thanks, Very concerned customer.
