Not sure where to begin other than to warn others away from wasting their time. I never write book reviews because I can find some redeeming qualities in everything and enjoy a book for the unique world, but in this case I needed to. The character development was god awful and a lot of the fundamental plot points just don't make sense. - Every character has the emotional maturity of a 12 year old girl. Maybe that was the intended audience but the description doesn't lead you to that conclusion. Everyone loves everyone else, immediately abandons them, falls in love with someone else, tries to reunite, and the cycle continues. Even if this were for young people it's condescending to make them believe that adults never grow as human beings not to mention a horrible example in regards to relationships. - I can't fathom a group of people less capable of making decisions for themselves, goes back to a total lack of maturity of all characters. - The lucky happenstance where people continuously find, without looking or in the first place they do look, the sole person on the planet that could help or train or assist everyone right when they need it. - A war is stopped by a single mountain with a spell on it. The fact that dragons can fly around and boats can go around don't enter into the picture. - A war is also stopped by that one mountain despite 4 groups that all hate either being trapped on the same side, but the fact that a single country is on the far side stops everyone from fighting. Um, what? - I managed to finish all 3 books only to realize there's a couple more. This is only the second series in 35 years of obsessive reading that I'd rather gouge my eyes out instead of finish the series.
