A seriously flawed product
This product has a major flaw: When the wi-fi signal is interrupted, even for one second, the thermostat goes offline until it is manually reconnected to the wi-fi signal by the user, who must be in the house at the time. I live in a Boston suburb where brief power outages happen all the time, plus major outages due to winter and summer storms. We have a whole-house generator which brings full power back on after a five-second delay. Then the modem and routers come back to life and devices such as laptops automatically reconnect to the wi-fi signal. But the Honeywell thermostat does not. You have to be physically present and enter your wi-fi network security code at the thermostat -- it cannot be done remotely. So if you set the thermostat to hold at a fuel-saving temperature (such as a low temperature in the winter) before you go away, and there is any interruption of the wi-fi signal while you are away, you will not be able to reset the temperature so that the house is back to the normal temperature when you return. Since this is the main reason why I bought this product (replacing a conventional programmable thermostat) I would say that the Honeywell product is basically useless.
