Theologically Unsound and Harmful
I cannot in good conscience recommend this book nor any of the teachings of Lori Alexander. The author promotes unsound doctrines, some of which are heretical such as, "women are not created in the image of God" (this can be seen on her social media). She also promotes the idea that wives cannot live by their own personal convictions but must filter everything through the husband - the husband decides what the wife believes and how she follows God, how she dresses, what she does. Again, this belief is heresy. Jesus is our only mediator between us and God, not men, not husbands. This book (and the author's posts on social media) is theologically unsound and misuses Scripture in harmful ways by telling women who suffer from depression and/or su***d*l thoughts to just read the Bible until they feel better while ignoring their real problems and needs . The author has repeatedly deleted helpful hotline #'s that some of her followers have posted, showing the author lacks care and compassion for those who are struggling and hurting. She also tells women who are in ab****e relationships/situations that according to Scripture (1 Peter 3) the ab***d woman is called to " su***r in silence" continuing to su***t to the ab***r husband in order to turn the husband back toward God. This is a gross misuse of Scripture, not to mention a horrendous thing to tell an ab***d woman! Lori's emphasis on one-sided su*m*****n (wives to husbands) is a dangerous teaching - especially for those in any kind of ab****e situation. One-sided su*m*****n gives husbands complete control over their wives - this is ab**e pure and simple. She offers no real help. Telling an ab***d woman to just keep suffering in silence and keep su*m*****g is telling her she must keep enduring ab**e until the husband miraculously decides to stop - this is never okay in any type of ab**e and never what God desires! To tell women this is not only irresponsible but also dangerous. There is a dangerous thread that runs through Lori's teachings...essentially teaching women they must "deny" themselves by giving up who they are (goals, dreams, likes & dislikes, everything that makes them who they are), and even "deny" their own convictions, hearing from God, even their own relationship with God (according to the author all of this must be filtered through the husband for his approval) and submit to ab**e. Lori often takes Scripture out of context, improperly applying it to say something God never intended. Lori's teachings do more harm than good as they lead us away from Jesus and loving others and instead lead us to a life of rigidity and legalistic rules. Please do not read this book or follow Lori's dangerous teachings.
