Not sure how wirecutter decided this was a decent umbrella. Having never purchased a "decent" one, and recently having a commute with a portion that required walking, I went with the experts and got this one. Unfortunately, the return window on this umbrella closed just as our rainy season started, and thus my regular experiences have proved this a terrible purchase, but one that I'm now stuck with. Look, if you've had a cheap umbrella, that's what this is. It's relative small (so arguably easy to pack) but also difficult to remain protected underneath. Every other aspect of the umbrella is unremarkable, which is ideal in a water avoidance device, I'm not really looking to reinvent anything. Where this item falls down is its instant ability and propensity to flip inside out whenever the wind blows. Even a light breeze sends this thing inverted, and you get to spend more time attempting to pop it back into shape whilst also being rained on.
