Amazon charged us 5 separate payments all at the same time
My wife ordered this two days ago to replace one that our grandson broke of hers that was purchased last year. Last year she used the monthly payment plan and everything went fine. First day, we were charged for the first payment, shipping and handling, and taxes. Nothing else. Yesterday, I get up for work and look at the bank account and see that Amazon charged us for ALL 5 separate payments when she ordered the new tablet. They broke the taxes and shipping and handling up over 4 of the 5 payments but all 5 payments were charged at the exact same time. When I got home from work and told my wife she called Amazon and after speaking to several people, getting transferred left and right even to departments that had nothing to do with this and couldn't help and to supervisors that were the same she basically just gave up, pissed off. The last agent blamed her for ordering the tablet in the first place which resulted in the five charges being made on our account and if she hadn't purchased the tablet, the charges would never have happened. What the Hell??? Excuse my language but that was uncalled for. In years past we have used monthly payments for many things, especially tablets which we pretty much buy yearly as presents. We were told that the 5 payments all at once are the way Amazon always does things and they just fall off after the account proves it has enough money to pay for the tablet. First off, Bull. Lets say that was true. Then what is to keep the money in the account for next month's payment, and the next 3 months after that? Are you going to lock $32 of my money on my account as pending on a permanent basis for 5 months until the tablet is paid off? No. If the full amount was going to be locked in pending the moment it was ordered you had about as well not offer monthly payments and just simply make it a one time payment because you have already locked the full price away from my hands in pending status for at least a week at my bank now. I live with 7 people including 3 of my grand children, one of which is a toddler that had heart surgery at 8 months old and you have literally taken grocery money out of my account. Only two of us adults have jobs thanks to the pandemic and we don't have tons of money for this many people. What I honestly believe, is that this was a glitch in your billing system that wasn't supposed to happen but instead of saying that and actively trying to help us and fix it, you tried to lay the blame on us for buying your product in the first place and basically said we can go kiss ourselves because you don't care enough to do anything about it. I have dealt with Amazon for many years and come to expect great this from you and your products. We literally by things from you about every two weeks and yes from time to time there are mixups and mistakes that have to be fixed but we normally are treated with respect and helped. That is why this comes across and hurtful and rude in the harshest way to both my wife and myself.
