My dachshund's teeth aren't quite plaquey enough to warrant a professional cleaning, but I heard about this product and was hoping it'd help clean plaque off the areas I'm not able to brush, like the backs of his teeth. I gave him the suggested dose, and an hour later, he was incredibly thirsty. I've never seen him like that. He just kept gulping water. He even woke me up at night, which he never does, and I could tell he wanted something- turns out, it was water. His nose was dry, his gums were dry- the only thing new he'd had was this product. I did some googling, and found out that this product is super high in iodine, and if your pet is already on a quality diet that has enough iodine, it can be dangerous and cause thyroid issues (a symptom of which can be dehydration). I never gave it to him again, and he hasn't had any issues with dehydration in the week since. Be careful with this product- in my research, I found a LOT of people who've had similar issues, and whose otherwise healthy dogs developed thyroid issues from this product.
