Mattress runs far too hot
I wanted to love this mattress. I really, really did. Sad to have to write a negative review, and it's actually the first review I've ever written (don't let that sap my credibility though, I've been an Amazon Prime member relying on reviews for over 10 years). Just trying to share my experience on a major purchase in hopes that it will help the mattress buying community :) I've been looking forward to buying a new mattress for years to upgrade on my old full size, and I went through a ton of research looking for the best one. Kept hearing about the new disruptive mattress companies like Tuft and Needle, Casper, and Leesa, and eventually went with Leesa due to reviews from Amazon, The Sweet Home, and Sleep Like the Dead - all really reputable reviewers in my opinion. I'll start with the cons, because they were major: -This mattress sleeps really stinking hot. Listen to the negative reviews on here, people. I've never tended hot before in my life, and I woke up every day sweaty and clammy. I bought the Leesa specifically because the latex layer is supposed to be cool, but this was not true at all in my experience. For this reason alone I would not get this mattress. -Edge support matters, and the Leesa (or most other memory foam mattresses...) has almost none. Sitting on the edge of the bed to put on socks or for romantic encounters or just to get off the bed were all far less enjoyable/doable. -Maybe I'm just not a memory foam guy, so this is subjective, but the firmness of the bed had this really uncomfortable juxtaposition with the softness of the memory foam, almost like it was too soft despite decent firmness. I'm sure this is personal preference, but I'm going to avoid memory foam's "hug" in the future. -the lingering gas smell was still noticeable 2 months later. Definitely decreased over a couple weeks, but for the past 6 weeks has been at a constant nagging annoyance level. Not a fan. Pros: -Amazon has amazing customer service and were able to process my return of the mattress. Obv this has nothing to do with Leesa, but really wanted to give a shout out to Amazon -The mattress looks great, with the nice lycra/cotton cover and great branding. how nice it looked made me want to like it more -Easy shipping and unpacking, as advertised. This does not disappoint -I only had back pain for the first week (which was already more than I had ever experienced), but at least it went away fairly quickly as my body adjusted. I saw that other reviewers had constant back pain, which fortunately I did not experience. I'm pretty young and have no history of ever having back pain though, so I wouldn't put too much in store of my experience here, but I'll list this as a pro. Overall, if you're a huge memory foam mattress fan, then maybe give this a shot. But the sleeping hot and just the overall tendencies of memory foam aren't for me, despite the ridiculous amount of advertising that tries to tell me these mattresses are for everybody. Obviously this is all a matter of personal preference, so take my review with a grain of salt, and hopefully this or another mattress works for you. Good luck with your mattress search - it's a tougher slog than I hoped.
