fails check-R, out of spec
This basic USB A-to-C cable is meant to charge newer devices (with a reversible type C connector) from PCs, older chargers, and general-purpose USB ports. Unfortunately this cable fails the "check-R" app, indicating it lacks the correct resistor(s) to limit power draw from older charging sources. The lack of correct resistance most seriously can result in equipment damage, and usually also means unreliable (variable) charge rates. Out-of-spec cables have been a major issue for USB-C adoption. For details, search for "Benson Leung", a google engineer who has been systematically testing USB-C cables (and maintains a USB-C FAQ on google+). I love the AmazonBasics label, which provides an inexpensive go-to for general-use products including cables. Unfortunately, their supplier for this cable seems to suffer from the same issues as many other generic USB A-to-C cables. Since it is apparently out of spec, Not Recommended.
