You'd have to be a sadist to enjoy it
What a horrible, horrible, book. I cannot understand why anyone would rate it highly. It's not well written, the characters are not credible, and the subject matter is cheap emotional appeal through the use of violence. It's about Appalachia in the 1890s not the 70s. Oh - and for the person who claimed this is like Jan Karon - on what planet? Jan Karon depicts a fictional town in the mountains that could pass for a real one. Leah Weis should go back to school and learn to write.
I'm returning this one. No room on my library shelves for trash.
