First, pros and cons then my overall impression. Pros: 1. Really light: easy to carry between floors. 2. Great suction: no problem removing hair from a sink, or dog hair (short haired dog) from a carpet. 3. Easy to push: no motor assistance but it glides well. 4. Spinning carpet attachment for stairs: A great tool, hampered in this case by other features (see below) Cons: 1. No way to deactivate the roller when cleaning a bare floor. Which worries me in terms of scratching finished floors and also contributes to noise. 2. Really loud… All vacuums are loud, this one is louder than most and probably passes the 80 dB threshold for permanent hearing loss (based on comparison with an air compressor I know is 70 dB). 3. Only one extension for the wand means you have to hunch over when cleaning along the base of cabinets or other narrow areas. 4. Vacuum has a tendency to tip when the wand is in use: Although there is plenty of stretch in the tubing the vacuum tends to shift and overbalance if you put even a moderate amount of tension on it. WARNING: vacuum form the bottom of stairs to the top (as supposed to top down) so that you don’t pull the vacuum down the stairs and hit yourself. Overall: The Eureka has great suction, and does an excellent job of vacuuming which, ultimately, is its purpose. However, many of the negatives here make using the vacuum a chore (well more of a chore than just vacuuming), there are simply too many negatives here for me to recommend this vacuum. This is however, the second Eureka I have had that does an excellent job cleaning so I would recommend looking at other vacuums in their line.
