Please Read Before Buying!
Now before I begin, I want it to be clear I'm a HARDCORE fan of Metal Gear and Hideo Kojima games and own every copy of his games. I know you going to hate I'm giving it 2 stars... but please read before disliking it and think it over and comment to me about it before liking or disliking. Okay first I'll get the cow out the way... any game that's 60$ with even a hint of microtransactions of ANY kind will lose one star, No matter how good it is. It's wrong for microtransactions to be in a game you pay for. If it's a Free To Play game I understand, but this is wrong. microtransactions has indicated it is a kinda way to buy a cheat code. I don't like the fact that in a multiplayer game, the guy I am playing can advance faster if he/she spends more real dollars. You can buy (with real dollars) more "Mother Base Coins" which you can use to build more Forward Operating Bases (FOB) which effects the rate at which players earn resources and other currencies in the single-player and multiplayer games. Think of it as a way to cheat by spending real dollars (above and beyond the $60 you already paid to buy the game) so you can build more FOBs and get more stuff faster than your buddy who is playing it without spending extra real dollars. (~K. Peterson~) Next I'll point out gameplay is flawless and works great... I have no problems with it Story is epic as the MGS games we've come to know and love. The Visuals perfect as well and some of the best this gen. With it being cutscenes and gameplay flawless in between. Music still up to par and not a let down one bit. Next the open world... First I want to point out I'm not a fan of Open world games. but MGS5 is a very pretty world and great for stealth gameplay and gives many Options how you want to go about it. BUT! there are many flaws with it too... There's problems with climbing up rocks or cliffs, where Big Boss just won't climb up it and many times just slid down which can be become annoying. Next it can be a pain to get around it with no real good fast travel... All they had to do is let us call in a chopper and have it pick us up and drop us off close to were we wanted to go, but no... you have to Run, Ride, Drive or hide in a Box at a pick up location which most times is in a enemy's base. Next MGS5 world lacks life... by which everything feels staged... in which makes look everything put in place and not letting things move freely. like seeing a animal always in the same location and enemy's stand at the same spots... The enemy evolve to your play style, but they stay their same pattern. Moving on to the Mother Base... it's a very neat idea and gives this huge feel of power and give something else to do then just the Open World gameplay. but it also feels empty as in needed more in it... I really don't know how to put it... like it don't matter what you do with it. it will work it self out, even if you do nothing with it. The mother base idea... is mostly for the Online Multiplayer... and has very little do with single player. Side from R&D and Intel... Which a lot of the stuff in the game from the R&D is not needed to beat the game... so is why I say Mother Base is for the Online Multiplayer... (I don't use it cause I don't like the idea of invading other people's bases) so I have no review on it... sorry. and now the reason I'm rewriting a review for this game. I beat the game and it lived up to everything I was hoping for... until I found out there was met to be a chapter 3 "Peace" to fill in the gap in the story after beating chapter 2. in which case is NOT on the disc... you heard me right... To get the REAL ending to the game you will most likely have to pay for it in DLC or it was removed do to Hideo Kojima being fired and that chapter not being done yet.... Whatever the case is, we still have a unfinished story here. WHY this is not a out rage in people's Reviews is beyond me!?... I think it goes to show that people have come to ACCEPT unfinished games and are okay with spending more money to a game they payed full price for. This is one of the worst kind of DLC out there and almost no one is pointing it out. because it's Metal Gear Solid, but when comes to games like Destiny, Asura's Wrath and Mass Effect 3 it's not okay!? It's sicking that people are picking choosing and saying then doing... nothing but hypocrites and double talking jive. Lastly, You may have heard this game is a bit repetitive. I'll fill you in why that is. There is 50 "Main Missions" in the game and 150 "Side Ops" (a.k.a Side Quests) And nearly all of them will have you do 1 of these 3 things {Extract} / {Eliminate} / {Secure} And to tell the truth any mission were you need to {Eliminate} ... it be better for you to Extract what ever you was met to Eliminate cause most times it be better for you in the end. So mostly you will be Extracting everything in the game to your Mother Base. You have many Options how you want to go about doing the mission, but the end goal for almost every mission is the same "Extract" or "Eliminate (which you will ignore and Extract it as well)", so I'm sure you can see how that can be repetitive... but wait it gets worse... Not only will you be doing the same thing over and over you will also be seeing the same locations for almost every mission, cause there is only 2 world maps and both are not very big... And to top it all off you will also have to repeat playing these missions even after beating them if you want to unlock everything in the game... cause MGS5 has a LOT of grinding to do for resources. You know what game ALL that mission repetitive and resource grinding sounds like? *Destiny* and that game got hit with nothing but hate for it... but MGS5 is getting a free pass on doing the same thing... YOU know why?... REASONS! Now I'll be clear I enjoyed and had fun playing MGS5, but that dose not mean I should ignore the huge problems it has and give it a free pass, where other games got hate for it... that's wrong and misleading. To break down why this game is getting 2 stars, because it has pay to win microtransactions... lifeless Open World, shoe in Mother Base, repetitive missions and to top it ALL off it's a Unfinished story that you will most likely have to pay MORE money to get the rest of it. PLEASE, PLEASE! as a gamer and a fan of MGS think over what I just said, before you judge my review or this game. Thank you for reading, I hope it helped you and if you have any questions about the "Game" just ask. ^^
