Makes little difference in temperatures - fans do nothing - not great for gaming
The pad allows for a little cooling, but the little amount it does has nothing to do with the fans.
The fans are definitely quiet. The lighting looks nice. The grips are great and my laptop sat perfectly on it without budging or sliding. Would have given 2 stars for the decent design, but their own video states about their fans: "Strong Wind, High-Speed Operation", which quite simply is a lie.
The fans are quiet because they're only 1200rpm. They move little to no air. The only discernible cooling I could see happening with this pad is that it is raising your laptop up off of any flat surface. This will allow the laptop's own fans/vents to work better. I fired up some gaming sessions to see the differences between having the cooling pad's fans on, fans off, and no cooling pad at all. I saw a temperature drop of about 4-5 degrees Celsius using the pad versus not using the pad (see images). I consider this almost negligible, but I suppose if that's all you're looking for, great. However, turning the fans on or off made almost no difference at all. Possibly by only 1 degree (see images).
The pad is not expensive, and I think the build is fine. Yes, the plastic is cheap feeling, but the grating is metal. I suppose if just having something to put your laptop on that lifts it up and increases airflow, and just the small temperature difference is all you need, 20 some odd dollars is decent. For me, though, with a gaming laptop, I was expecting more - and for that matter - for the included fans to actually do something. Unfortunately at only 1200rpm, they don't really do anything at all. Who cares if they're quiet when simply turning them off results in pretty much the same benefit? No noise is better than a little noise, yes?
