Motors don't last!
I've had one of these Dromida Ominus quadcopters for about a month now. I bought extra batteries so i could fly it for more that 10 minutes at a time. I've flown it quite a bit and now i have something i want to say about it. THE MOTORS ARE CRAP!! I had the first one fail on me about a week ago. I removed it from the copter and tested it separately to verify that it was toast. I bought a new one, and got it flying again for about another week. now another motor has gone out. I dissected the motor to see what was failing. This wasn't easy as i had to grind away the crimp with a cut off wheel on my dremel. These motors were designed for cell phones and pagers, not constant duty like it's being used for in this toy. The motor is a permanent magnet brushed motor. the brushes are nothing more than thin "whiskers". They wear grooves into the commutator and burn up. Don't expect this toy to last you very long unless you have an endless supply of replacement motors. Even though you can buy parts for the Ominus, I don't consider this a "hobby grade" Rc quadcopter. You get what you pay for. Expect to have motor problems within weeks.
