Very disappointed in Amazon to see this one listed as their recommended choice, it will make me think twice when taking their recommendations in the future. Like the other reviewers said, the mix is surely very hydrophobic, but more disappointing than that is the high content of large pieces of bark in it, it seems like at least a third of the mix consists of basically mulch, and big pieces at that that cannot be broken up with your hands. I've lost a few cactuses to it already and it has successfully impeded the rooting of various echeveria leaves that I've had no trouble rooting in other mixes. Even cutting it with equal parts vermiculite and sand does not yield a suitable medium. SMH.
