Anti-American, pro-Jihadi nonsense disguised as Tom Clancy.
If you know and like Tom Clancy, you'll hate this. If you don't know Clancy but love a good action story, you'll merely be disappointed. If you've read Clancy, here's an example of what the makers of this mess think you'll swallow:
1) Admiral James Greer is Muslim.
2) A US drone pilot is deeply wracked by guilt over killing Jihadists.
3) In one exchange, Jack Ryan agrees with a French cop that America is evil:
French cop: "How can you be in the CIA knowing everything your government does?"
Jack: "I figure it's better to be on the inside, maybe be able to change something, than be on the outside and not be able to change anything."
Even if this weren't contradictory to it's source material, and offensive to patriotic Americans, it would still be bad TV. The acting isn't bad, and the look and production values are great, but the characters don't behave like real people, the dialogue is jarringly ridiculous, and the writing is terrible. I didn't make it through three episodes. What a waste.
