Slow to heat up and slow recovery time
This fryer took almost 20 minutes to heat up and when I added 12 wing segments the temperature dropped like a rock and took almost 5 minutes to come back up to temperature of 320 degrees.
Dial goes to 375 degrees - something that I seriously doubt it can achieve. I cooked those twelve chicken wing segments in the fry for almost 20 minutes and the wings were only a very pail golden brown. Other fryers I've owned fried more wings in half the time.
The power cord needs to be longer by at least a few more inches - the fryer needs to be very close to a wall socket because the cord is so short and the fryer can't be pulled out from under cabinets because of the length.
The maximum amount of time you can use the fryer is 60 minutes out of 120 minutes (in the manual). When we make fries or chicken we use a double fry method of initially frying at a lower temperature, removing the food and heating the fryer to a higher temperature and frying a second time to finish off the cooking. When you add in initial heat up time, and recovery time between batches you don't get a very long cooking window. I was trying to finish the cooking of the wings when the fryer turned itself off - resetting the timer didn't bring it back on.
