UPDATE: DIED 2 YEARS TO THE DAY OF PURCHASE. Excellent. Easy to assemble/disassemble and clean. Basket is just over 4 inches deep. It's plenty big for 3 people. Easily held a 1.5 pound package of frozen battered shrimp. Might be a little small for 4 people, but it cooks so fast (2 minutes for the shrimp) that doing a second batch is not a big deal. Note, there's no on/off switch, just a plug. Also note, the timer doesn't turn off fryer, it's just beeps after the time you set has expired. Note, although the instructions don't mention it, I found that I can add food to the basket, then cover it, then place the cover with the basket on top into the hot oil. That's a nice design/feature that keeps it from spattering on you and nearby surfaces, instead of adding the basket full of food into the oil, and then trying to put the cover on while the oil is spattering.
