I've been waiting 20 years for this.
I owe a big thank you to Amazon for putting such a large budget into this amazing story but the adaptation is severely lacking. The best part has got to be the shadowspawn. Bloody and ashes, those trollocs look great. After that, the casting is problematic. RJ's world is already full of diversity and strong women; the casting the feminist dialogue is going to cause issues down the road for the story. You don't portray women as strong by making men look dumb and weak. Next is pace. The pace is hard to get right, I get it, but episode one started us off with a screwed up pace. They should have ended the episode with the start of the Winternight attack and then resumed it and had the Emond's Field Five leave home in episode two. The rest of the season flies through book one, as it had to, but they clearly could have done better; look at all the reviews and the rating. Not all of the critics are racist, misogynistic bigots. That is a weak argument in favor a disappointing adaptation. Get into the books. It's worth your investment of time. Jordan's and Sanderson's writing brings parts of you that you never knew existed to life.
