I have to be honest and say I was initially enamored with this filter. It was highly portable and convenient and the flow rate was unsurpassed. At least, that was on the first weekend out. Then, things changed for the worse quickly. After the first weekend, I took it home and cleaned and stored it properly. Then, I took it out a couple of weeks later for a second trip. That's when disaster struck. I filled it from a clear mountain stream in the mountains of Colorado. I boasted to my son just before I began filtering that this was the best flow rate I'd ever experienced. I started to squeeze the bottle, and the water just barely trickled out. I thought perhaps it needed cleaning (though, I'd just cleaned it a couple of weeks before) so I cleaned it using the Katadyn suggested method and tried again. Still, nothing but a trickle. I was careful not to squeeze too hard because I'd heard issues of the bags rupturing so I continued with mild to moderate pressure. Sure enough, after less than 10 ounces, the bag ruptured at the neck and was completely unusable. Fortunately, I brought along some Aquamira tablets as a backup. Otherwise, I would have had to come off the trail. I am highly disappointed in this little filter. I am a big fan of Katadyn products and own several. But, I will not be purchasing this one again unless Katadyn significantly improves it. Buyer beware!!! Finally, if you check my other reviews, I rarely say anything negative about a product. But, I felt compelled to share this so others can learn from my mistake.
