I have used the Nielsen Massey Vanilla Bean paste for years and expected others to be similar. The NM is thick and viscous and has a lovely rich vanilla aroma and is almost black from how much vanilla bean is in it...this product is almost like a vanilla syrup. it is almost clear with a few flecks. It is much thinner (not like a paste at all) and quite sweet. I am also uneasy that there is not country of origin or country of manufacture on this product. I was very disappointed, leery of its origin and threw the whole bottle away. :(
