Cinderella?
Wow! Who knew you could pack so many political ideologies into a "family-friendly" movie. If you like preaching and virtue signaling, this is your scene. Personally, I don't care what side of politics you stand with, I don't wanna hear about any of it in a fantasy movie I'm watching with the family! We watch fantasy movies and fairytales to escape from real life, not hear ideologies from any side of the table. I guess that could be stomached if the actual acting or singing were creative and well-executed. Not even that can be said in favor of this movie. In fact, there is little to redeem this movie. The music is blandly unoriginal, sad to say because I love Camila as an artist. Even the main theme "Million to one" is a cheap, gimmicky imitation of "A million dreams" from the wildly popular The Greatest Showman. Unfortunately, the overdubbed and underwhelming take on this classic little resembles the Cinderella tale we all know and love. Not is it even a good "Different" look at it. Reminiscent of the recent Mulan remake disaster, but somehow even worse than that. Why must these companies take beloved childhood tales/movies and ruin them completely by naming them the same thing. For those of you saying it was supposed to be "DifFErENt!!", and finally a Cinderella that doesn't need saving, clearly you have not seen more tastefully done remakes of Cinderella before. Remakes like "Ever After" (with Drew Barrymore), Whitney Houston and Brandy, or even the recent Lily James remake have strong, but kind Cinderella characters (that are strong women portrayals too, FYI) that are much more respectable than whatever this character was. Geez! Nobody has anything against a little difference (and contrary to popular belief it actually has nothing to do with race hating either. Go figure). We just want a tastefully done remake that we can identify with and actually love the characters. Shallowness and an overabundance of singing doesn't make up for that. Cinderella by Amazon is not tactful, cute, or any bit imaginative. If you like the original Cinderella story (or even enjoy remakes of Cinderella like I do), then please don't watch this. You'll be disappointed.
