I was very hopeful that this solar pump would be just what the ornithologist ordered for our new birdbath, particularly the hummingbirds that we go to great lengths to invite into our back yard. Sadly, it was terrible. I understand that a solar powered pump needs sun, but even in full sun, this place was deplorable at best. It would just spurt every few seconds. We ordered another from a different manufacturer, as well as a pump that had a separate solar panel connected via wire. In the head-to-head-to-head competition, the wired solar panel unit was and continues to be the hands-down winner. The floaters were returned, and the wired pump reigns supreme in our bird bath. Even with it totally overcast, it's currently bubbling 2-3 inches. In full sun, the keeper fountain sprays 12-18". Avoid this one at all costs.
