Some people are saying these are made in China--not true...but, although the manufacturers have tried to be misleading in how they phrased it was "made for and distributed in Texas"... It was that "made for" that kept me searching and finally I found (in a separate area from it's distribution origin) that they ARE actually "made in Mexico". A couple of people also brought up the point that a very questionable ingredient--"poultry digest" was listed in the making of this product....which is suppose to enhance the taste, and dogs seem to LOVE--but then, I think we are all aware that "dogs" don't exactly have the best judgement on things like that. (Why, I've seen my adorable Maltipoo root around in the grass to find and gobble up earthworms and, if my Snow White--doesn't even like to get his feet wet, Maltese happens to notice a particularly strong stench while sniffing around the yard, he'll just up and throw himself down right in the middle of it and proceed to wriggle around in it--covering his beautiful coat up in some other dog's nasty urine or business!!--if I don't watch him!) So, I Googled this "poultry digest" and "this" is what their mystery ingredient actually is-- It’s partially digested food and bird poo and that comes from unspecified breeds of slaughtered bird’s intestines. When they kill these birds, they pull out all their organs--saving all the partially digested gook they are able to squeeze out of all their intestines to sell to pet food companies as a cheap filler and “palatability enhancer”. But, think about it--If the food’s so bad that that disgusting mess will make it taste better, this stuff can't be fit to feed our loyal, loving & trusting little friends. The idea seems totally disgusting and not necessary. Why do they state "Wash Our Hands After Handling"--like ALL DOG FOOD & DOG TREATS--because "they aren't suitable for human consumption". They’re calling it meat and fat because it does come from an animal, it’s just not much of either and has no place in dog foodIt’s partially digested food and bird poo and that comes from the slaughtered bird’s intestines. Then they sell the gook to lots of pet food companies as a cheap filler and “palatability enhancer”. If the food’s so bad that this will make it taste better I’m leaving it on the shelf. It’s totally disgusting and not necessary. Also not suitable for human consumption. They’re calling it meat and fat because it does come from an animal, it’s just not much of either and no good reason to be an additive in what could have been a great product. And, with this last conclusion, this previously satisfied but, regretfully uninformed and too trusting a customer--simply because my Vet had reccomended this product, am now totally going to "wash my hands" of this nasty product for good!
