I want to give it at least a 2-star rating, since it made really good espresso while it worked, but alas, an explosion of boiling water, billowing smoke, and tripped circuits sort of gives me pause. While it worked, it was a dream. Not super easy to use, but easy enough given the power and purpose of it. This is definitely a machine of a tool, not an appliance, which is why I wanted it. I thought given the history of the brand and the reviews, I was going to be nicely set for my at-home needs. However, given what just happened this morning, I can't, and won't, recommend it. I had the unit preheating with the portafilter in place. I went to take it off to dose my grind, and it literally exploded. Water shot from every seem in the top of the unit (all over me as well, thank goodness for my heavy robe) as it then began to smoke heavily. I understand there's a defect, and I'm under warranty, but I will not have a product that has failed so epically and shaken me to my core like this ever plugged in again. Gaggia is done for me.
