This is a substantial radio (nearly the size of a small shoe box) we bought for our kitchen. It's used every day. The sound quality is exquisite and exceptional to any other radio we've ever had. My only complaint is occasionally I can't turn it on - the buttons seem to freeze. I solve this by unplugging it for a few seconds - then it's fine but it's odd.. I didn't have program issues that other people wrote about - the time and channel set were relatively easy but I did have to read the instructions. UPDATE: April 2016 - I've had this radio since December 2015 and have grown to be so disappointed in the mechanical quality. The sound is great - the design is great but it burns me up that at least several times a week if I go to turn up the volume, the radio's functions totally freeze up (and don't unfreeze without effort). Or I change the channel and it stops working. Unplugging it doesn't always solve the problem now. It's especially annoying when I hear, say, an interview and I want to turn up the volume and instead IT GOES OFF. I'm furious that I spent this much money on a poorly functioning radio. I read the negative reviews and thought maybe I'd be an exception. Well, that's obviously not the case. I'm very unhappy with it.
