Need a breaker bar? Buy this. Need a torque wrench? Don’t.
This torque wrench was a major miss for me. It doesn’t operate correctly. I needed to torque on the lower end of the wrench. It never clicked. I sat it on the shelf thinking maybe I just was asking too much of it. Fast forward to today. I needed to torque the bolt holding my mower blade to 40 foot pounds. I figured “hey! Redemption time for this purchase! Now my wife can’t tell me I bought a useless wrench.” Well I followed the directions to set the torque to 40 ft lbs. After working on the bolt for a bit I thought I was probably using too much weight. I backed it off to 20 and got a distinctive click. Cool. It works. So I up it to 30. Still a click. Perfect. This thing works. 35. Click. Alright. 40 here we go. Hmm. No click, but it worked on the other settings so I must just not have tightened it enough. A few turns later it really seems that I’m using too much force, but it worked on the earlier settings, it must be working now. Turn, turn, SNAP!!! And the bolt snaps. So yeah. This thing won’t work in the 10-15 ft lb range and won’t work at 40. It’s useless and I think I learned my lesson on buying a cheap torque wrench.
