confuses more than enlightens
I bought this book based on the glowing reviews posted here. I teach logic, and fallacies, in my university debate class, and am always looking for new ways to view the various fallacy structures--this book simplifies nothing, and provides very little actual examples. Essentially each fallacy type is discussed in one dense page which may contain one or possibly two illustrative examples, and on the opposite page is an illustration with a usually very esoteric example that confuses more than enlightens. This book is perhaps the worst I have seen yet on making simple the complex craft of critically analysing and refuting the common forms of fallacies--do NOT waste your money on this book unless you already know the topic well, and are simply looking for another view of this well trodden subject.
