This toaster is Junk!!! It is supposed to toast Bagels by heating the center sets of coils as a normal toaster would and only allowing the outer sets of coils to do a warming function. I had to set the browning dial to 7 (the highest) and had to run it through 2 cycles to get a slightly toasted bagel. I also ran a piece of bread through at the #7 setting but not pushing the bagel button. It did toast both sides but did not turn the bread very dark, it was still eatable. I would have thought the highest setting would really make the toast very dark. I called the HB consumer office and was told it was defective and to return it to Amazon. I did this and reorder the toaster (#2). This unit works the same as the first. If you are looking for a CHEEP made toaster that does not work as advertised this is it!!!!
