Great Call is the carrier, not the manufacturer, AND there appears to be no way to avoid setting it up as a phone. There's also no way to test it without setting it up first. So, if for instance you bought it for an elderly relative and would like to make sure that it is a good phone for them, you first must activate the phone and set up an account BEFORE your elderly relative can even determine if she wants to keep the phone. It might be a great phone, but this is a DUMB way to do business.
