Shallow and empty but easy to read
I am 25% through this book and if I finish it will only be because I told a friend I would tell him about it. I only got the book because another friend told me he loved it so much, so maybe I need better friends.
The book is a winding, somewhat random memoir of Bob Goff's life. I love how we can see God's story in our story but most of the time this book seems like the opposite - Goff forcing his story into God's story. It seems that every dumb thing that Bob has done was God's perfect plan for him and none of it was just his own sinful or immature approach to a problem that God redeemed. I hope the book gets better and if it does I'll update this review.
As an aside, I now have the word "whimsy" attacking me regularly. Goff doesn't seem to be able to go more than a page or two without using it and now it's in my head like a bad 90's pop music song that won't go away.
