My wife purchased a very unique Murphy desk/bed combo with the bed's mattress being around 30" off the floor. This height definitely requires some type of step stool to help you get into the bed. I choose this type of stool in the dark wood because it came closest to matching the Murphy bed in color and style. Ordering the Frenchi step was easy. The price fair. Delivery was fast. Packaged well with all parts and instructions enclosed. Assembly was easy and the product looks great. The issue I have with this step stool is one of safety. Because it is taller than it is wide; if someone steps up on the stool near the right or left edges of the steps (not in the center) it can tip over causing a potentially serious fall and/or injury. Remember, not everyone has cat like reflexes. The height to width design is the fault; not the materials, not the manufacturing of the parts, and not the end user assembly. I did not want to return this product because it matches the desk/bed so well so I screwed two boards on the bottom of this step stool extending about 3" on both the left and right sides giving it the stability it requires. I also used wood glue with the screws to make this product safe and long lasting. I doubt that there ever will be a need to take it apart. Overall the step stool is a 3-4 as far as concept and looks go. It is a 0-1 in being a safe product for first time users or those who do not watch their step.
