★☆☆☆☆
Golly, what the heck!
About 8% into the novel, the main character Iris, a civil engineer, enters into a darkened room containing an old vault. She knows that the building they are surveying was an old bank building. She studied building engineering. She must have at some point studied where banks vaults would be located and what they were designed for. Nevertheless, the character Iris asks her companion, "What the heck are these? This isn't where they keep the money, is it? The author has his character not knowing a vault from her elbow. That was enough for me. But I kept on reading, and the dumb dialog continues, "So what is this?" "I guess you need a key to lock it." "What the heck (heck again so soon) happened here?" Having lost all credibility in the novel and the author, I jumped to my computer to write this review. Then I deleted the novel from my Kindle.
