★★☆☆☆
Single Blu-Ray is incomplete.
Just to clarify. The content of this disc is mostly excellent. The reason that I'm only rating it 3 stars is because I feel it is a bit of a rip-off. There are 50 Beatles videos/live performaces that were remastered for the reissue of the 1 album. However you need to buy the full box set containing the CD, book, and TWO discs to get all of the video content. This is completely unnecessary. They could have easily put all 50 videos on 1 disc. They are charging FULL price for the stand alone Blu-ray and it only contains the 27 songs which correspond to the audio CD. No Strawberry Fields video, no Rain, no Revolution. Those and the rest of the 23 remailing video were put on a 2nd Blu-ray. This is completely ridiculous. I was basically roped into returning it and buying the far more expensive set. I don't even want the audio CD. Like most Beatles fans I already own their entire catalogue. I'm not complaining that the box set exists. It looks like a very nice package for a new or casual fan. I just feel that it would have made so much more sense to put ALL of the videos on the Blu-ray, especially if one is going to charge full feature price. As for the content of what is included: It's very, very good. The video quality is as HD as it possibly can be. Paperback Writer, shot on 35mm color film looks particularly amazing. Even the live TV footage looks and sounds decent. The nicest treat is that the songs from A Hard Day's Night and Help are not simply clips from those films, but separate promo films. So I reluctantly must recommend that one buy the full set as I just did. The hard cover book looks nice and I will finanlly have all of their videos together. Once it arrives I'll give a full review of that.
