★★☆☆☆
revisionist history
The story is not based on true events and so its best to take it as fiction. The claim that it is partially based on a true story is hogwash too. What a boring if not visually stunning film, no character building no historical accuracy just put a woman in there to fit in with the times. They also seem to get up to at least 39,000 feet, but of course a thin jacket that will be enough at -30c or more, no hat or gloves? They also have Indian and other friends of different ethnicities to fill in a token diversity quota, it's not as if people were fighting inequality in those days. Also in real life the woman in the story was a man, fellow scientist Henry Tracy Coxwell. Where does 'based-on real events' end and 'completely made up twaddle' begin? Why not make it totally fictional rather than air-brushing fake characters into and real ones out of history? Add a *romance* at the end- another fiction since he was an older married man. Oh, and a crash landing... I have to applaud the cinematography, which was out of this world.
