It broke, and it was dangerous.
I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially of Park because in general I think they make good products. But this one broke, and it was dangerous. I built this about a month or so ago. The instructions were relatively clear and it seemed to work fine. I used it several times. Today, I was lubing the chain on my brother's bike, when the whole thing broke suddenly and disastrously, sending the bike and the top of the stand down on top of me and throwing me to the ground. A plastic piece that held the top and bottom tubes together in place had totally sheared off. The stand is now borderline unusable (it holds the bike really low), but more importantly it scared the crap out of me and was a few inches from being really bad. A few points/questions, because I'm sure people will ask: no, the bike wasn't that heavy. It's just a standard adult steel bicycle. Not particularly light, but certainly not unusual. No, I wasn't pulling on it or putting my weight on it; I was loosely holding the chain. The stand was set relatively high because I'm tall, but not especially or egregiously high (I'm not that tall I'm only 6'1, and I actually had it set a little low for me). Is it possible that I put it together wrong? Sure, could be; all I can say is that I'm a smart guy who's built his share of IKEA furniture and this seemed to go together only one way, and furthermore it worked for over a month before suddenly failing. I would argue that even if this is somehow "my fault" that building a product which can be put together in a way that appears correct but is essentially a ticking time bomb is not safe. Don't buy this product. It's dangerous.
