These are NOT your father's Lincoln Logs
Unfortunately these are not the beloved toy that I grew up with many years ago. Look closely, you will note that the new 'slats' for the roof are now simply more half logs painted green; they are NOT the original design or thin wooden shaped slats from years back. These new 'roof' pieces do not work on the slanted roof braces. No matter which direction you place them, round side up - or round side down - they will not stay in place. And once you have about 3 or 4 in a row on the slanted roof - they simply slide down. And if they hold for a brief period - attempting to add the cute solid wooden chimney, will also cause them to slide from the poor design and excess weight on the rounded green logs. These are NOT the same - and they do not work. I twice contacted Lincoln Logs - K'Nex - and I get a bounce e-mail, asking me to wait for their answer, or to call if I have a question in the mean time. Well - still waiting. Still no response to either inquiry. In my opinion, it has not demonstrated to value my opinion. So - I give a big thumbs down to this. If you really want to get the Lincoln Logs for your child, find a used set from long ago, or buy them from a source that has the original design roof slats. Those older design thin wooden slats work on the roof - everytime - and you will enjoy them greatly. It is my opinion that these 'new design' are poorly and badly designed, frustrating and NOT worth the time or money. After several frustrating builds with my children - with the round green slats sliding down practically every time - we got rid of them. Sad to say, but unfortunately I did not get any answer from K'Nex Lincoln Logs on the two inquiries as to why the change in product design. These are not the same. I cannot recommend them at all.
