I bought this primarily for voice control of my tv and am very disappointed. I really don't understand how Amazon delivered such a poor product, while the Alexa software paired with my Echo is excellent and intuitive somehow the same software can barely understand commands and is riddled with bugs. Really hoping this product improves with time because it does have potential except considering how bad the voice recognition is maybe the fault is with either the microphones and/or processors used; it often misunderstands what I'm saying and I often find a need to pause between saying the wake word (Alexa) and issuing a command. The device has a difficult time separating my commands from the background noise of the TV and it does eventually mute the TV after hearing the wake word, but my regular Echo has never had a issue with the TV being on in the background (maybe the issues the proximity) so I'm surprised their device designed to be used with a TV has issues. Other little things make it feel like the product was rushed, for example it can't fast forward/pause/rewind the dvr on my cable box while watching live tv. Thiss something that should be an easy fix but isn't currently supported. My biggest frustration comes from having to be very specific with wording if you want to change the channel - anything besides "Alexa tune to channel" is ignored, at this point if i say something like put on instead of tune to channel Alexa just doesn't know what to do. Edit: I was contacted by someone from Amazon asking specific questions about my experience so its nice to know theyre collecting and hopefully listening to user feedback.
