First the positives 1. 144 pencils for $9.99 with complementary Prime 2 day shipping is great. 2. These pencils are real wood. They're not the Sanford Eagle fake stuff. 3. They write a clear and crisp line and the lead does not break easily. Now for the negatives and why these only got 3 stars. 1. The eraser leaves much to be desired. It is flimsy and takes a lot of pressure and passes to erase satisfactorily. 2. While this is just aesthetic, the wood casing is inconsistent in coloring and frequently has significantly divergent shades on each half of the casing. 3. My biggest reason for the 2 star review is the fact that out of 24 pencils 12 sharpened to a very uneven point meaning that more frequent sharpening will be required as the wood sits closer to the lead point on one side. Even worse, an additional 4 sharpened to a wood tip with lead exposed on only half the pencil. This is due to leads not being well centered in the casing. They were visibly off-center in all of the above mentioned pencils.
