Control valve exploded, flooding our house
This unit worked well for almost 1 year. It was located indoors and professionally installed. Last night (thank god we were home) a 'BOOM-WHoooooooosh!' noise suddenly interrupted our dinner. I ran downstairs and saw that the control valve head had been blasted off and water was gushing into my house.
I quickly turned off the emergency shutoff valve to the house and took a look at the unit. As the pictures illustrate, the valve failed at the threading to the resin tank. The fact that this occurred nearly 1 year after install, with no disruption or modification to the unit and no variation in plumbing or water pressure, strongly suggests a manufacturing failure. Ive contacted the manufacturer but haven't heard back.
