The majority dead or dying
I've purchased tillandsia on Amazon in the past with great results. I thought I'd try this dealer because of their support of shelter pets. I was extremely disappointed.
Starting with the positive information, I got 14 plants instead of 12 and all were decently sized. Beyond that, there's little good to be said
When I opened the box, several plants were clearly dried up and nearly dead. Others were very soft at the base the way they get when consistently overwatered. I was astounded plants of such poor quality ever got into a box to the customer, they're so obviously bad. Its almost like Aquatic Arts sent me their plant pile of dead plants to be trashed. See photo.
I decided to water them well (except the overwatered ones which I watered very carefully, tips only) and give them some TLC, to see if the plants recovered at all.
After a week, the results were not good (see photos). A couple of the dried up plants show some green growth in the middle, but are clearly badly damaged and not suitable for display even if they survive. One plant is clearly dead and falling apart.
Of the overwatered plants, two have already fallen apart from rot, two are so soft at the base its clearly just a matter of time. The fifth is soft, but may yet recover; however, won't be healthy.
The remaining six plants are in pretty good shape, although there are only two types, so I ended up with almost no variety, not that there was much variety to begin with.
I cannot recommend purchasing from this dealer. This is unfortunate given their efforts to support shelter pets for which I commend them.
