Okay product, but mostly inexpensive filler
This is a review of the Fresh Healthcare Turmeric Curcumin.
A warning to all looking to buy this: you are getting a mixture of good curcumin extract (standardized to 95%) and not so good turmeric root powder (which contains about 3% curcuminoids).
Almost all research done on the benefits of turmeric are actually done on the curcuminoids themselves. Just plain turmeric does not have the same benefits of curcumin.
In a serving consisting of two pills, this product contains just 100mg of the turmeric extract (which is 95% curcumin. This is the stuff you want) while having nearly 1200mg turmeric as a cheap filler (this is the cheap stuff that contains roughly 3% curcumin). There is also 5mg of piperine as BioPerine (this is used to increase the absorption of the curcumin)
BE WARNED that you are getting a supplement that is LARGELY made of of cheap turmeric powder as a filler, with only a little bit of the highly concentrated curcumin.
All in all, this product supplies about 95mg curcumin from the extract, and roughly 50-60mg curcumin from the root powder filler.
The suggested dose of curcumin is 500mg/day, but this product is giving you roughly 150mg per serving.
This label is a bit confusing because it says that it contains “turmeric curcumin”, but it should actually read that it contains turmeric AND curcumin. (the vast majority of this product is actually just cheap turmeric)
This product did not work for me nearly as well as the other curcumen supplements I have tried (not surprising, considering it has less than 30% of the recommended intake)
I would give this product a 2/5. They are including SOME turmeric extract, but the large majority of the product is the non-concentrated form of turmeric. This company uses confusing wording on the bottle to try to trick you into buying a cheap supplement. If you do buy this product, be prepared to take 3x the recommended amount to get the proper dosages.
I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. If you are looking for a good curcumin supplement, find one that contains at least 500mg of the turmeric EXTRACT, containing 95% curcumin.
Disclaimer: I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
