Very unstable charging stand
There is a big problem with the Oral-B IO 9: it is much too easy to knock over and have it fall on the floor, breaking a $300 device! Compare it to my old Oral-B Pro (see the pictures). The Pro stand has a spike that holds the handle in place, which the IO has only a rather weak magnet.
The second picture shows what happens when the handle is tilted: the Pro base stays with the handle while the IO base lets go. A slight bump will knock the IO over while the Pro will simply right itself.
To prevent a disaster I came up with an ugly fix: I put the base inside a cup. Now the cup catches the handle before it falls over. But after spending $300 I should not have to do this.
I don't have any experience with the IO as a toothbrush yet; I was just terribly annoyed by this awful design flaw. The rating will remain at one star until I can report on the performance.
UPDATE: I returned the toothbrush. There are adequate alternatives that don't fall over.
