I'm a huge WoT fan and loved the books written by Robert Jordan. This Amazon TV series could have been great, had they simply done the Game of Thrones model and just followed the plot lines and story of the book closely or if they just attempted to follow the story of the books, they did not - it is an extreme departure from the books storyline and seems like they just added stuff and deleted things to "spice it up" but it just comes off as overly forced low quality garbage. I think the casting of Rosamund Pike as Moraine could have worked but other than that - the casting seems to have very little to do with the characters depicted in the books, Rand is alright but looks like a male model rather than a naive, uncultured farmer. Now even if I tried to NOT compare this TV series production to the written works and just tried to force myself to consider this series on its own merits - I still find it terrible. It comes off as a super budget B-grade fantasy-soap-opera; even though they apparently have a huge budget to invest in it's production, no idea where that budget was spent as it is not evident in the production value of the show. The books as written have many many strong female leads, that are interesting and compelling characters, such as Moraine herself, not to mention Lanfear and then a ton of other main and sub characters as the story goes on. There's no need to completely alter the storyline, considering that the books were successful because of their author - better to not try and re-write it so it can be "improved" by someone that does not posses the same degree of talent or writing ability as the original author, overall its just very disappointing to see one of your favorite written fantasy epics turned into cheesy crap.
