Installation and connection to WiFi was easy and the overall physical design is good. Video quality is excellent and I like the ability to define activity zones, which define where the camera should watch for movement. There are some deal-killer problems however: (1) When the ambient lighting changes, such as a dusk-to-dawn porch light going on or off, or even the sun going behind a cloud, the camera sees this as “movement.” These events cause the camera to send a notification to my phone, which causes me to open the app and watch the video clip to see if someone is outside my door. (2) Shadows on the ground, door and walls made by sunlight shining through trees that are blowing in the breeze is also seen as “movement.” Again, these result in false alarms. (See attached video) The camera needs some intelligence to distinguish these occurrences from a human being near my door. One day I received 27 false alarms. I talked to tp-link tech support multiple times and they are worthless. This is a fatal flaw and I will be returning the camera.
