Huge Disappointment compared to Kindle 3
I've had my Kindle 3 for about 9 months, it is definitely the best Kindle ever. Page turns are fast enough, buttons are conveniently placed and easy to press, even the 5-way controller is much better than the stubby one on Kindle 2 and my old Kindle DX that I used to have. So I was happy to get a Kindle Touch, figuring it would be even better. But it's much worse. The Kindle Touch, for whatever reason, has a background that is much less bright than the Kindle 3. So this makes the contrast low and the text harder to read. Then, it turns out that turning pages by tapping on the screen is *much* less convenient than turning pages with the side buttons. Because I have to move my finger *over* the screen, every few seconds, to go to the next page. Instead of just pressing the button each time I want a new page, I have to move my thumb back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And I have to move it way out of the way or even if it's not blocking the text, it casts an annoying shadow on the page. It's really really annoying. I'm going back to my Kindle 3 for good. I just wish they would add a couple of the good things from the Kindle Touch, e.g., a way to move forward or backward a whole chapter at a time. But overall there is no comparison, the Touch model is just a failure, for now.
